The topic of November Science Saturday was Secret Codes, presented by Dr. Jena Hwang, Research Scientist at IHMC. Third and fourth graders performed hands-on activities related to mirror writing, the substitution cypher, and the book cypher. Students in grades 5 and 6 learned about the enigma code and built their own enigma machines from Pringles potato chip cans. Sponsorships by Ocala Electric Utility, Ron and Phyllis Ewers, and Lockheed Martin make it possible to offer this and other Science Saturdays free of charge to all attendees.
