The 2026 Science Saturdays got off to a brainy start, with cognitive scientist Kevin Gluck presenting Science of the Mind. Students labeled the components of neurons and learned about the basic functional structures of their brain’s cerebral cortex. Hands-on activities included creating physical models of neurons out of pipe cleaners, simulating the movement of action potential along a sequence of neurons, and coloring and assembling brain hats. Discussion emphasized the importance of healthy eating, exercise, and plenty of sleep for keeping our minds healthy.
