Roller Coasters by Scott Weeks, Florida Engineering Society

April Science Saturday, “Roller Coasters”, was presented by Scott Weeks. Students designed and constructed simple roller coasters using plastic tubing to experiment with the physics of roller coasters. The focus was on kinetic energy, potential energy, and friction. Challenges included making the biggest hill, the biggest loop, and the most loops. Small ball bearings served as “cars” that went through the roller coaster.
