Research Associate (HRP Core Labs)

Description: IHMC is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Associate to support an array of functions in the Healthspan, Resilience, and Performance (HRP) research program.

Our interdisciplinary HRP team conducts clinical and translational research from the molecular level to whole human, across an array of topics ranging from stress responses and adaptions among military personnel to intervention trials targeting a disease or disability.

The Research Associate will be a key member of a growing research team with particular focus on conducting human performance tests and intervention sessions, organizing test results, supporting data management, and collaborating with other team members on most all aspects of human research conduct.

The Research Associate will help lead research priorities primarily in the Neuromuscular Function Laboratory, Cardiorespiratory Function Laboratory, Body Composition Laboratory, and field research settings.

The ideal applicant will meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree in physiology, exercise science, biology, biomechanics, or a highly related field
    • Master’s degree preferred
  • 2+ years of laboratory experience in human performance and/or exercise physiology
  • Current Basic Life Support certification
  • Current certification by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM-CEP or ACSM-EP) or NSCA (CSCS)
    • Strongly preferred
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to help develop and adhere to standard operating procedures
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot and maintain quality control
  • Willingness to travel to conduct off-site field research
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more
  • Ability to ambulate and stay on foot for extended periods
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office, data management software)
  • Authorization to work in the United States
