THE TALK: The Treatment of Osteoarthritis: A Century-Old “Secret”
Osteoarthritis is the destruction of cartilage with coexistent inflammation of surrounding tissue. The process can affect any joint of the body as its symptoms and physical damage become progressive.
Multiple treatment approaches, increasing in intensity, have been the standard of care.
Beginning over 125 years ago and uninterrupted in Europe for over 60 years, low-dose therapeutic radiation has been the potential “solution” for this medical dilemma. This approach destroys the offending cells that erode our cartilage: in essence, the disease stops. Biography
Dr. Anderson has been CEO of the Robert Boissoneault Oncology Institute for greater than 40 years. He graduated from the University of Florida’s College of Medicine in 1981 and completed his specialty training in Radiation Oncology in 1985.
Dr. Anderson served as an officer with the Aviation Wing of the United States Marine Corps prior to his medical training. After attaining his medical degree, he served as a reserve Medical Officer in the US Army “MASH” unit, Gainesville.
Dr. Anderson now serves as a Fellow in the American College of Radiology. He has served on the board of the State of Florida’s Department of Professional Regulation, the Advisory Council for the Agency of Healthcare Administration, the State Council on Medical Physicists, Past Chairman/Board of Trustees, Ocala Regional Medical Center, Past President/George Harrell Club, University of Florida, Past President/Marion County Medical Society, Past President/Board of Directors, Monroe Regional Development Foundation, Past Vice-Chairman/Council on Legislation for the Florida Medical Association.
