Ryan McCourt

Research Associate

Ryan McCourt is a research associate working under Dr. Matthew Johnson.

Ryan is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science at the University of West Florida. Ryan was president of The UWF Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) as well as the UWF Association for Information Technology Professionals. In addition, he co-authored a peer-reviewed publication on his then primary research project: MEDUSA; a cross-disciplinary project with the aim of providing a cost-effective mobile training platform to students in the medical field.

In the Spring of 2020, Ryan began working part-time as an intern at IHMC on the CREATE project, which focuses on intelligent teaming of autonomous drones on both real and virtual hardware. As of December 2020, he has signed on full time as a research associate, in order to continue his work on CREATE, and it’s subproject AFIT.

Ryan’s personal areas of technical interest include mobile app development, full stack Java development, back-end web development, database systems, and additive manufacturing.
