David Rabin
Senior Research Scientist
Dr. David Rabin joined IHMC in November 2025 as a Senior Research Scientist with the healthspan, resilience, and performance team. He is a neuroscientist, board-certified psychiatrist, entrepreneur and inventor who studies the impact of chronic stress in humans. His work explores the transformative potential of neuroplasticity — the brain’s ability to form new connections, adapt, and grow.
Rabin’s interest in our inherent ability to heal ourselves from injury and illness has led him to research the clinical translation of noninvasive therapies for patients with treatment-resistant illnesses such as post-traumatic stress disorder and substance use disorders. His research covers a range subject areas, including attention, learning, functional neuroconnectivity, neurodegeneration, psychedelic medicines, epigenetics, psychopharmacology-assisted psychotherapy, treatment-resistant mental illness, psychopharmacology, and artificial intelligence
Rabin, an M.D. and a Ph.D., is the co-founder & Chief Medical Officer at Apollo Neuroscience, the first scientifically validated wearable system to improve heart rate variability, focus, relaxation, and access to meditative states by delivering gentle layered vibrations to the skin.
In addition to his clinical psychiatry practice, he is also the executive director of The Board of Medicine, and a psychedelic clinical researcher evaluating the mechanism of psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy in treatment-resistant mental illnesses. He also serves as a board member of Semper Fi Odyssey (SFO)/Outdoor Odyssey serving traumatized active-duty military, veterans, and children.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y.; a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from Albany Medical College; and a residency in adult psychiatry at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
