Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP)

Starting Date: As soon as possible, depending on applicant’s availability.

IHMC is currently seeking a CRNP who will Function as a key member of a diverse clinical research team, supporting a wide of array of human research projects including clinical trials. Performs history and physicals, tissue biopsies, blood draws, monitors participants, monitors medications including investigational drugs, reads ECGs at rest and during exercise, helps manage clinical research data and regulatory procedures and files, and performs other clinical research activities as assigned.

IHMC continues to develop and grow its Human Performance and Resilience portfolio of research programs and has a growing need for CRNP support. Individuals hired will work with our interdisciplinary human performance team as may interact and collaborate with members of the Robotics/Exoskeleton team and AI/Computer science personnel.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Performs health history, physical examination and all other protocol-required assessments of research participants, Performs needle biopsies, blood draws, ECGs, and other duties per research protocols, Orders laboratory, radiological and diagnostic studies per research protocols, Demonstrates critical nursing judgment to maintain the integrity of the research protocol without compromising participant safety, Demonstrates appropriate clinical skills relating to the execution of research protocols, such as determining inclusion/ exclusion criteria, Demonstrates the ability to assess situations and make critical decisions affecting research procedures, Documents all clinical assessments and care provided, observing any changes in a participant’s status and response to the protocol, Demonstrates the ability to practice independently within study guidelines, Maintains effective communication at all times, Educates research participants about specific aspects of a given research protocol, Participates actively in the informed consent process, Documents all assessments, findings, progress and care prescribed in the participant’s chart, Participates in weekly research team meetings, Communicates study information to all staff in facilities where study is to be implemented , Creates source documents to record all study procedures per participant visit, Sets priorities based on participant care and protocol requirements, Communicates through verbal, nonverbal, written and computer methods effectively with all team members, Maintains participant rights and confidentiality, If applicable, enters all procedure-related information into the Electronic Data Capture (EDC) , Works with research coordinators to ensure participants are scheduled in compliance with study protocol , Completes required IRB/HIPAA training and maintains current CITI training certifications, Maintains all study documents in accordance with departmental Standard Operating Procedures , Responsible for assisting in recruiting and retaining research participants, Other clinical research duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure
  • Current provider of Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Strong computer skills (e.g., MS Office)

Required Licenses:

  • Florida Registered Nurse
  • Florida Certified Nurse Practitioner

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Research experience
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Supervisory experience
  • 2+ years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner
