HRP Cognitive and Computational Neuroscience Research Internship

Description:

Our research specializes in cognitive psychology, neuroscience, physiology, and data science. Using advanced wearable sensors and neuroimaging, we investigate topics such as stress, resilience, learning, and performance in extreme environments particularly focusing on military contexts. Our approach integrates computational and statistical modeling techniques, allowing us to gain deeper insights into the complex interactions between cognitive processes, physiological responses, and environmental factors.

This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in cutting-edge research methodologies and contribute to meaningful projects in the fields of cognitive psychology, neuroscience, physiology, computational modeling, and data science.

Start Date: as soon as the applicant is available.

Duration: between 3-12 months. Exact terms to be determined.

Compensation: both paid and unpaid positions are available. Pay will be commensurate with experience and responsibilities.

Location: Pensacola, Florida.

As a Research Intern, you will:

  • Assist in conducting experiments and research studies under the guidance of senior researchers.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze data using advanced tools and techniques, including wearable physiological sensors and neuroimaging devices.
  • Participate in literature reviews and research discussions to contribute to the development of research hypotheses and methodologies.
  • Support the preparation of research materials, including experimental protocols, psychometric assessments, and data collection forms.
  • Provide regular updates to PI and senior researchers on the status of various research projects.
  • Collaborate with team members in evaluating experimental findings, performing data analysis and modeling, and preparing comprehensive summaries of data.
  • Monitor real-time data collection, ensuring ongoing quality control for experimental procedures.

Qualifications:

Ideal candidates will meet the following criteria:

  • Holds or is currently pursuing a degree in psychology, neuroscience, biology, physiology, data science, or related STEM field.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment.
  • Possesses excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to help develop and adhere to standard operating procedures.
  • Exhibits strong problem-solving abilities, with the capability to independently troubleshoot and maintain quality control.
  • Possesses excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and data management software.
  • Desirable, but not required: Familiarity with statistical analysis software and/or programming languages (e.g. R, MATLAB, Python, etc).
  • Desirable, but not required: Previous experience working in human subjects research or in a research lab.
