Josh Patterson
Research Associate
Josh joined IHMC in August 2023 as a Research Associate, after beginning as an intern in February of the same year. He has worked with Drs. Anil Raj and Brodie Mather, as well as IHMC’s human performance teams on projects including PROTEUS, ASCEND, and A2PEX.
In these roles, Josh has contributed to studies on cyberpsychology and human performance, supporting research that combines physiological sensor data with system log data. His work focuses on developing and automating data collection, processing, and analysis pipelines, as well as building secure and scalable software tools to support study workflows.
Josh earned a Bachelor of Science in Software Design and Development (2023) and a Master of Science in Cybersecurity (2025), both from the University of West Florida. He is proficient in Python, Java, and modern web development frameworks, and is passionate about applying his software development and cybersecurity expertise to advance human–computer interaction and cyber defense research.
